Bhagavad Gita

I feel like Arjuna, because I was complaining about a task that I needed to do, but didn’t want to. My dharma was to go to school, just like his dharma was to go into battle, We both had reasons why we didn’t want to complete these tasks, but we did anyways because it was our dharma, and in the end things turned out good for us.

The Bhagavad Gita explains that we all have duties that we don’t want to do, but we have to fight through that because it’s our dharma to do them. The Bhagavad Gita also explains that good karma will come to those who follow their dharma.

People in ancient India had different motives for doing their duty then people today. People today have different motives, such as they need to do something for a boss, or to keep themselves healthy, or something tho their own benefit. But, people from ancient India wanted to have good karma, therefore they have to complete their dharma. Having good karma is their motivation.

Only certain people would be able to read it, because the richer and more higher up people were only able to read. Since this is true, the people that are higher ranked could tell lesser ranked people that can’t read that they have these “duties” but they are simply just made up in order to get the lesser ranked people to do what they want.

Feng Shui

Recently, I just moved into a new house, therefore you can make the assumption that my room was a complete MESS. All of my clothes and trinkets packed away in boxes. I went from an empty room, to a disastrous room, to a room that now has good chi.

After I put my bed and papasan chair in my room, I decided that it needed more objects that represented the 5 elements in order to achieve positive chi. So, above my bed on my window I placed two candles, one white to represent strength and independence, and one red to represent passion and emotion. Also, over my papasan chair, I placed a black blanket for relaxation and inspiration. And, no room is complete without plants, so I put dried white baby’s breath in an orange pot which represent the elements fire and metal, but I also have a grey pot with different types of green succulents to represent the element wood for growth and expansion.  The final thing I put was a pink salt rock lamp. All of the elements in my room have really created a gentle flow of chi throughout my room.

My new arrangement also honors Bagua, because I put in fire for future recognition, wood for the strengthening of family, grey for creativity and to strengthen spirituality, black for family, health and community, and final pink for love and relationships.

The Taoist Walk

This is a cool ball thing. I have no idea what it is and that is why I captured its picture.
This flower is so different from other ones I saw on the walk. Its uniqueness is what made me capture its picture.
This tree was one of the biggest trees iv seen in my life. It was amazing. It really makes you think about how small you really are on this earth.
I loved the vibrant color to these flowers and how they all grew together like a big flower family.

The most powerful sensation was hearing the wind travel through the leaves, and feeling the cool breeze it created.

I have been on this course before, but I ran it. So this time was different, because I was able to take my time and concentrate on my surroundings. There were a lot more noises and I saw a lot more nature then what I noticed before.

On the walk to hear birds singing, leaves rattling in the wind, the sound of animals, and myself stepping on sticks. I also heard the band playing.

While I was walking I smelt the fresh crisp scent of the cool air, and I smelt the naturalness and freshness of the leaves and grass.

On the walk I just kept thinking about how everything is so complex and has such detail. I was thinking about how diverse nature was, but how simple it all is at the same time. I was amazed by how much more you can see when you actually take the time to look.

When I first got outside I was a bit cold, but as the walk continued and my mind wandered to other thoughts, I didn’t notice any certain feelings. I felt fascination when I looked at certain plants and flowers that stuck out to me.

This experience can be compared to Taoism because during the walk you focus on natures condition and focus in to the  beautiful nature that surrounds you everyday. Also, like Taoism, during this walk you zone out and are in your own little world surrounded by the things you see everyday, but are now seeing them more clear then ever before.
